Kaduna: Governor Sani Distributes 240,000 Bags of Fertilizer to 120,000 Farmers

In a significant move to bolster the agricultural sector and ensure food security in Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani has distributed 240,000 bags of fertilizer to 120,000 farmers across the state. The distribution, which took place on Monday, reflects the government’s commitment to revitalizing agriculture, a sector that contributes 42.81% to the state’s GDP and employs 42% of its workforce.
Governor Sani highlighted that the benefiting farmers were carefully selected by a non-partisan committee comprising representatives from various local bodies, including the Kaduna State Council of Chiefs, Nigeria Labour Congress, and the Kaduna Elders Forum. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to empower farmers and enhance agricultural productivity across the state.
In addition to fertilizer distribution, the governor emphasized ongoing efforts to protect livestock health, with 850,000 cattle and 250,000 sheep and goats vaccinated as part of a comprehensive campaign against transboundary animal diseases. The governor also outlined other key achievements, including the launch of the Tallafin Noma initiative, the procurement of solar-powered irrigation pumps, and the successful attraction of the Africa Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC) project to the state.
Governor Sani’s administration has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to agricultural development, ensuring that farmers are equipped with the necessary resources and support to thrive. As the state continues to prioritize agriculture, these initiatives are expected to yield substantial benefits, further solidifying Kaduna’s role as a leader in Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.
