Kaduna State Establishes Committee for Hajj 2024; Prioritizes Pilgrims’ Welfare
In anticipation of the 2024 Hajj operations, the Kaduna State Government has taken proactive steps by inaugurating an eight-member committee. This committee is charged with ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience for Kaduna pilgrims through the provision of essential services such as accommodation, feeding, transportation, Hadaya services, and tents.
Dr Hadiza Balarabe, the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, emphasized the committee members’ expertise and dedication, highlighting their selection as a testament to their commitment to the state’s progress and the welfare of its people. Acknowledging past challenges faced during Hajj exercises, Dr Balarabe stressed the need to rectify these gaps to create an improved arrangement that prioritizes the welfare of pilgrims.
The committee’s terms of reference emphasize the critical areas that demand meticulous attention, particularly in providing quality accommodation, standard feeding, efficient transportation, and appropriate Hadaya services. Dr Balarabe emphasized the necessity for engagement only with organizations capable of meeting the state government’s high standards.
She urged the committee to ensure that the accommodation in Mecca meets specific criteria, including bed capacity and proximity to the Kaaba, and highlighted the importance of efficient transportation and proper implementation of Hadaya services. Dr Balarabe expressed the government’s anticipation of a comprehensive report from the committee, outlining findings, recommendations, and operational challenges faced during the assignment.
The Deputy Governor extended gratitude to Sheikh Salisu Abubakar for accepting the role of chairing the 2024 pilgrimage operation, acknowledging the government’s commitment, under Governor Uba Sani’s leadership, to providing a seamless and satisfying pilgrimage experience for the state’s pilgrims.
In response, Sheikh Salisu Abubakar, the Committee Chairman, appreciated Governor Uba Sani for the trust placed in them and pledged the committee’s dedication to fulfilling their terms of reference.
