Kaduna State Government Press Release – Clarification on Kagarko Situation
The Kaduna State Government would like to clarify recent media reports involving the Minister of Women Affairs, Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, and her alleged role in brokering peace among different groups in Kagarko Local Government Area. We wish to caution the public against misleading information that has the potential to cause confusion and unrest.
Contrary to these reports, there is no crisis in Kagarko Local Government Area. Kagarko has a history of peace and remains one of the most peaceful local government areas in the state. The Kaduna State Government has received credible information suggesting that this misleading narrative was created by members of a leading opposition party with the intention to defraud the Federal Government.
The Minister of Women Affairs, without proper verification and in the absence of representatives from Kagarko Local Government and the Kaduna State Government, made official statements and promises to these individuals. We are disappointed by her actions, given her experience as a public servant and knowledge as an Attorney at Law.
The Kaduna State Government, under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, remains committed to peace, stability, and socio-economic development in the state. We will not allow ill-conceived actions by external influences to jeopardize our efforts in collaboration with Federal Security Agencies and Federal Government Ministries.
We urge the public to disregard the erroneous reports and trust that we are dedicated to maintaining peace and harmony in our communities.
Signed
Muhammad Lawal Shehu
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kaduna State 6th November, 2023
