Kebbi Governor Allocates N309 Million for Foreign Scholarships
Dr. Nasir Idris, the Governor of Kebbi State, has earmarked N309,584,041.80 to fund foreign scholarships for students from the state studying in India and Egypt.
The announcement was made by Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, the State Commissioner of Higher Education, during a briefing with journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
Breaking down the allocation, Abubakar-Tunga explained that N228,150,148:00 is designated for 63 students in India, while N81,433,893:80 is for 23 students in Egypt. He assured that expenses for the remaining 50 foreign students would be settled promptly.
Highlighting the governor’s commitment to education, the commissioner noted that in February 2024, all state students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across Nigeria received their local scholarships.
He expressed gratitude on behalf of the ministry for the governor’s commendable efforts in advancing higher education.
