Kebbi State Converts 233 Casual Workers to Permanent Staff as Governor Idris Fulfills Promise
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has taken a monumental step towards improving the welfare of casual workers by converting 233 of them into permanent and pensionable employees. This action fulfills a promise Governor Idris made during a BBC Hausa program, “A Fada Acika,” where a casual worker from Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi requested the regularization of their employment.
The official announcement was made by Kebbi State’s Commissioner for Health, Comrade Yunusa Musa Ismail, during a ceremony at his office where the permanent employment letters were handed over to the workers. The 233 staff members, including those from Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital and Kebbi Medical Centre in Kalgo, have now transitioned to permanent roles within the state’s healthcare system.
“This is a significant moment for Kebbi State,” Comrade Ismail remarked. “Governor Nasir Idris has once again demonstrated his commitment to fulfilling the promises he made to the people. These workers now have the security of permanent employment, ensuring their future well-being.”
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Governor for his compassionate leadership and urged the newly appointed staff to dedicate themselves to providing excellent service to the state. He also commended the screening committee, led by the Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena, for their diligent work in ensuring that the process was fair and transparent.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Hon. Shafiu Zauro, who co-chaired the screening committee, also extended his thanks to Governor Idris for entrusting them with the task of regularizing the employment of the casual workers. He urged the new permanent employees to remain loyal, hardworking, and punctual in their duties, while praying for the success of the administration.
Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, praised Governor Idris for consistently delivering on his promises. “This event is a testament to the Governor’s commitment to the people of Kebbi. Regularizing the employment of these workers is not just about fulfilling promises but also about uplifting the lives of those who serve our communities,” he said.
Alhaji Birnin Kebbi highlighted other promises kept by the Governor, including the establishment of a Commission for Persons with Disabilities, the construction of a primary school in Malala Quarters, and the distribution of water pumps to farmers, among others. He also noted the Governor’s investments in upgrading media infrastructure, such as modernizing Kebbi Radio and Kebbi Television.
In his vote of thanks, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Shehu Nuhu Koko, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Idris for prioritizing healthcare workers’ welfare. He noted that the Ministry had seen numerous achievements under the Governor’s leadership, further cementing Kebbi State as a beacon of progress in healthcare and employment initiatives.
