Kogi State Government Implements Measures to Regulate Mining Sector

In a bid to enhance the governance of its solid minerals sector, the Kogi State Government has instituted a ban on the issuance of consent letters by traditional rulers to miners without proper approval. The Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru Gegu, announced these measures, stating that all community development agreements must be vetted before permitting any mining activities in the state.

Governor Yahaya Bello emphasized the need to address environmental degradation and security concerns associated with illegal mining activities.
