Kogi State Government Prepares 7,000 Hectares of Farmland for Cultivation

The Kogi State Government has announced the preparation of 7,000 hectares of farmland for cultivation in the upcoming farming season. This initiative, aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, was revealed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Isah, in a statement issued in Lokoja.

During a briefing with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, Governor Ododo highlighted various agricultural activities undertaken by his administration, including the census of farmers across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas. Additionally, over 200 tractors have been recovered and refurbished, ready to be deployed to farmers for crop production. The government’s commitment to ensuring food security is evident in the preparation of the extensive farmland.

Governor Ododo also discussed recent security developments in the state with President Tinubu, seeking support for the establishment of a Forward Operation Base by the Nigerian Military in critical areas. Furthermore, he reiterated his administration’s dedication to completing ongoing infrastructure projects, revitalizing healthcare centers, and prioritizing human capital development.

President Tinubu commended Governor Ododo for his proactive approach to security and welfare issues in Kogi State, expressing full support for his governance initiatives. Governor Ododo, in turn, emphasized his commitment to the welfare of all citizens, irrespective of political affiliations.
