Kwara Government and NANS Collaborate to Combat Drug Abuse
The Kwara State Ministry of Works has partnered with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone C to address the growing concern of drug abuse among students and youths in higher institutions. The Ministry received a five-man delegation from NANS on a courtesy visit to discuss their upcoming anti-drug abuse campaign.
Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Mao, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, welcomed the delegation on behalf of Commissioner Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo. He expressed gratitude to NANS for choosing the Ministry as a valuable partner in their laudable initiative and commended the association for their proactive stance on this critical issue.
Alhaji Mao urged the students to engage in extensive consultations to ensure the effectiveness of the campaign. He assured them of the Ministry’s full support, emphasizing the importance of their initiative in transforming lives and promoting a drug-free society. The meeting was attended by other Directors and management staff of the Ministry, highlighting the importance placed on this collaboration.
Comrade Adebayo Abdulkadri, leading the NANS delegation, thanked the Ministry for their support and promised to work collaboratively to combat drug abuse in the state. In his vote of thanks, Director of Finance and Supply, Mr. Muyiwa Taiwo, encouraged the students to serve as role models and actively work towards changing the narrative surrounding drug abuse, stressing that combating drug abuse is a collective responsibility essential for securing the future of youths.
This partnership between the Kwara State Ministry of Works and NANS Zone C marks a significant step in the fight against drug abuse, demonstrating a commitment to educating and empowering the youth for a healthier and more prosperous future.
