Kwara Governor Approves N200m Counterpart Fund for P-WASH Program
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has given his approval for the payment of N200 million as a counterpart fund for the P-WASH (Partnership for Expanded Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene) program for the year 2023. This decision reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to providing clean water and sanitation services and is a significant step in the fight against open defecation in the state.
The Kwara State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon Usman Yunusa-Lade, along with the Kwara State General Manager of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), Mr. Olorunfemi Oladipo, officially presented this commitment to the Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation Office in Abuja on October 26, 2023.
This move represents the Governor’s dedication to improving the lives of the people of Kwara State by ensuring better access to clean water and proper sanitation. The General Manager of RUWASSA emphasized the state’s determination to create a healthier and more sustainable future, with access to clean water and sanitation for all, while expressing gratitude to the Governor for addressing the issue of open defecation.
The Minister for State Water Resources and Sanitation, Hon Bello Goronyi, commended the Governor for his unwavering support for this crucial cause and assured Kwara State of the federal government’s continued collaboration and assistance in achieving their shared goals.
