Lagos Embarks on 5-Month Road Repair Initiative in Ikoyi
The Lagos State government has announced plans to commence road repair works on the Ikoyi axis, starting from Monday, May 13. This project, scheduled to last five months and three weeks (25 weeks), aims to address deteriorating road conditions along key routes in the area.
According to Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, traffic diversion will be implemented along Adeniji through Falomo, including Bourdillon and Queens Drive. The repair initiative, slated to conclude on November 7, 2024, seeks to rejuvenate failed asphaltic sections of the roads.
To minimize traffic disruptions, the repair works will be conducted in phases. Phase 1 will focus on the stretch from Glover Road Junction on Alfred Rewane Road to Falomo Roundabout, with the closure of the road segment from Glover Junction to Falomo Roundabout. Motorists traveling from Alfred Rewane Road towards Falomo Roundabout will be redirected via Glover Road Junction onto Thompson Avenue to access Falomo Bridge through Bourdillon Road.
