Lagos’ Environmental Initiative: Postponement of Single-Use Plastics Ban Enforcement

0

The Lagos State Government grants a three-week grace period to styrofoam and single-use plastics dealers before enforcing a ban on these products. Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, emphasizes the government’s commitment to residents’ well-being and environmental sustainability. The ban, initially announced due to environmental and health concerns, will address the impact of styrofoam during the rainy season. Despite a previous prohibition, full enforcement is imminent, considering the havoc caused by single-use plastics on public utility, ecosystems, and aquatic life.
