Lagos Governor Applauds Visa for Bringing AFCON Trophy to the Heart of Nigeria

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State expressed his gratitude to digital payment company Visa for bringing the original Africa Cup of Nations trophy to Nigeria, specifically Lagos State. The trophy, continuing its tour of the 24 countries participating in the AFCON set to be held in Cote D’Ivoire, was warmly received at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

During a courtesy visit to his office, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of Lagos hosting the prestigious trophy, stating, “As Lagos State hosts the AFCON trophy, it’s a testament to our commitment to sports development. We are a city thriving with sports enthusiasm, and we’re thankful to Visa and CAF for selecting Lagos for the trophy tour. Our dedication to sports development remains steadfast as anticipation mounts for this esteemed tournament. Lagos continues to nurture local football talent and uphold the fervor for sports.”

The Governor encouraged the Super Eagles to strive for victory, emphasizing that they carry the hopes of all Nigerians. The trophy was also displayed at a reception organized in Lagos, attended by Visa customers, vendors, and football enthusiasts, as part of Visa’s campaign offering the chance to win a trip to watch the tournament live in Cote D’Ivoire.
