Lagos on Track to Meet 2024 Revenue Target
Lagos State is poised to achieve its 2024 revenue goals, according to Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George. During the 2025 budget consultative forum in Ikeja Division, he highlighted Lagos’s strong half-year performance towards its N1.251 trillion internally generated revenue (IGR) target and N596.629 billion federal allocations.
The forum spanned the five ‘Ibile’ divisions: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe. George emphasized Lagos’s ability to generate over 76% of its revenue independently, contributing more than 18% to Nigeria’s GDP.
He outlined the government’s allocation of 23% of the 2024 budget to Economic Affairs for infrastructural development, aiming to modernize the city and support its growing population. Initiatives include enhancing living standards, infrastructure, food security, business ease, public transportation, and energy supply.
The ‘Budget Consultative Forum’ serves as an annual platform for dialogue between government officials and the public about developmental priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.
