Lagos State Education District II Recognizes Excellence Among Teachers and Staff
The Lagos State Education District II recently hosted its 18th Annual Merit Award ceremony to honor outstanding teaching and non-teaching staff. With the theme “Recognize Dedication and Inspiring Excellence,” the event celebrated individuals who have demonstrated exceptional performance and dedication to their duties.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Balogun, emphasized the importance of continuous skill development and adaptation to technological advancements in education. He encouraged educators to equip themselves with 21st-century skills to prepare students for global competition.
Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, commended the district’s staff for their commitment to excellence and their role in advancing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S plus agenda. She highlighted the district’s efforts to identify and recognize exceptional teachers and administrators, driving learners’ achievements and success.
The ceremony awarded approximately 90 teaching and non-teaching staff members across various categories. Notable recipients included Mr. Olaoye Oyekunle Toyese and Mrs. Otayomi Esther Remilekun as the Best Teachers in the senior category for 2022 and 2023 respectively, and Mrs. Oredola Mary Orebukola and Mrs. Odumusi Oluwakemi as the Best Teachers in the junior category for the same years.
The recipients were presented with home appliances such as televisions, refrigerators, and cooking utensils as tokens of appreciation for their exemplary service.
