Lagos State Government Affirms Commitment to Technical Education for Youth Employment

Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Lagos State, reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing technical and vocational education. During a visit to Lagos State Technical College Ado-Soba along Lagos Badagry Expressway, he emphasized the state’s dedication to creating more job opportunities and reducing youth unemployment through technical education initiatives.

Encouraging students to view themselves as future business owners, Alli-Balogun urged them to remain focused on their skill training and serve as role models to others. He emphasized the importance of steering clear of negative influences such as bullying, drug abuse, and cultism while encouraging the students to communicate their experiences regarding state government educational interventions with their parents.

Highlighting the state’s support for graduates of technical colleges, the Commissioner emphasized the intention to empower them with adequate skills and resources to become employers of labor. He underlined the technical colleges’ role in not only imparting technical expertise but also nurturing creativity and entrepreneurship among students, fostering a mindset geared toward successful start-ups.

During his unscheduled visits to various schools, Alli-Balogun emphasized the need for exemplary leadership from school principals and vice-principals to inspire young teachers and maintain a conducive learning environment. This approach aims to contribute to the delivery of quality education in Lagos State.
