Lagos State Government Cracks Down on Quackery, Requires Traditional Medical Practitioners’ Registration

0

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board (LSTMB), is set to impose sanctions on traditional medical practitioners who fail to register their premises. LSTMB Registrar Babatunde Adele announced the directive, urging practitioners to regularize their registration by February 6, 2024. The move aims to curb the increasing level of quackery in traditional, complementary, and alternative medicine. Adele emphasized the need for comprehensive practitioner databases, stating that failure to renew licenses would result in delisting from the register, with penalties for re-enlistment. Illegal operators face heavy sanctions, including facility sealing.
