Lagos State Government Empowers Vulnerable Women Through Skills Acquisition

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Mrs. Cecilia Bolaji Dada, underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to empowering women through skills acquisition programs, aiming to eradicate idleness and promote financial independence among indigent and vulnerable groups. With over 15,000 beneficiaries since 2019, the state continues to prioritize the training of women across various divisions, offering free tuition in diverse empowerment skills. Mrs. Dada emphasizes the importance of building resourceful women who contribute to the state’s socio-economic development, urging residents to embrace practical skills for self-reliance. Highlighting the array of skills taught, including Tie & Dye, Catering, and Make-Up Application, she positions these programs as pathways to entrepreneurship, encouraging proper bookkeeping for access to financial support through the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF). Additionally, prospective students are urged to enroll in vocational training centers across the state, providing opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. The initiative receives commendation from the Executive Chairman of Iru/VI LCDA, Princess Rasheedat Abiodun Adu, who pledges support for beneficiaries’ financial empowerment, underscoring the government’s commitment to women’s welfare and economic empowerment.
