Lagos State Government to Enforce Drainage Right of Way in Apapa
The Lagos State Government announced plans to commence enforcement operations in Apapa to re-establish the three-meter drainage Right of Way for all drainage channels. Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, stated that the enforcement follows expiration notices served to property owners who encroached on drainage setbacks. The government aims to address flooding issues caused by encroachments on major collectors in Apapa. Wahab led an inspection tour to assess compliance and directed enforcement officers to ensure the removal of contravening properties within the drainage Right of Way. The government also conducted enforcement actions against illegal activities, such as the conversion of residential areas into diesel depots in Lekki.
