Lagos State Implements Innovative ICT Solutions to Enhance Physical Planning Activities

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration in Lagos State has embarked on a transformative journey by deploying cutting-edge Information Communication Technology (ICT) devices to streamline physical planning activities. The tools, presented at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, signify a significant leap towards innovation and efficiency in governance.

Representing Governor Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, Special Adviser on e-GIS and Urban Development, emphasized the transformative impact of these tools on the ease of doing business in Lagos. By digitizing the process of obtaining building plans, the government aims to simplify bureaucratic procedures and enhance service delivery to residents.

Dr. Babatunde highlighted the prevalence of properties without proper approvals in Lagos and outlined the state’s strategy to address this challenge. Leveraging the Lagos State Planning Information Centre (LASPIC) and automation systems, the government aims to facilitate seamless interaction between residents and the ministry, ensuring transparency and accountability in physical planning activities.

Echoing this sentiment, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, stressed the importance of upholding integrity in implementing the automation system. He urged personnel to embrace technological advancements as catalysts for progress and efficiency in service delivery.

TPL Musa Okuniyi, Director of the Physical Planning and Automation Department, emphasized the transformative potential of technology in making Lagos a model Smart City. As the state progresses towards a future marked by innovation and sustainability, these initiatives promise to enhance the quality of life for all Lagosians.
