Lagos State Reaffirms Commitment to Fair Treatment of Workers Amid National Minimum Wage Discourse

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring fair treatment for workers as discussions on the national minimum wage continue. Speaking at the South-West Geo-Political Zone Public Hearing on National Minimum Wage, the Governor affirmed Lagos’ commitment to collaborating with other states and the federal government to establish a realistic wage structure.

Represented by the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the State Government’s investment in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, recognizing these as crucial elements for workforce well-being and productivity.

Acknowledging the contributions of Labour union leaders present, the Governor emphasized the importance of stakeholders’ input in shaping policies related to the national minimum wage. The event provided a platform for dialogue and collaboration towards achieving a fair and equitable wage system.

Among the dignitaries present were members of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage, the Governor of Osun State, and other key stakeholders. The public hearing underscored the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare and economic sustainability.
