Lagos Warns Residents of Unhygienic Plantain Chips Processing
The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has issued a warning about unhygienic processing and frying practices observed among packaged plantain chips sellers. The caution comes after a viral image showed a vendor adding polythene (“rubber”) into the hot vegetable oil used for frying. LASCOPA urges consumers to be vigilant about where they purchase plantain chips to avoid potential health hazards and food poisoning. The agency is investigating the matter and encourages residents to report such practices to ensure consumer safety.
