LASG partners tecno to build football pitch for lagos island residents
Lagos State Government has joined forces with TECNO to enhance grassroots football development by inaugurating a project to build a state-of-the-art football pitch at Sura Under Bridge, Lagos Island. This initiative marks a significant advancement in grassroots football, transforming underutilized fields into premier training centers for local talent.
Director-General of Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Lekan Fatodu, highlighted the partnership as a testament to successful collaboration between the private sector and government in sports development. Fatodu emphasized that the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) would facilitate talent identification and development, creating opportunities for local football stars to reach their potential.
Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, underscored the alignment of the project with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda, which aims to promote social inclusion and sports development. Ogunlende praised TECNO for their contribution, stressing that such collaborations are crucial for effective youth development and community engagement.
TECNO’s representative, Charles Edosomwan, expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting that it aligns with TECNO’s goal to support grassroots talent. The company plans to revitalize 100 football pitches across Africa, with Lagos being the first beneficiary of this initiative.
