Niger State Acting Governor, Yakubu Garba Leads Civil Servants in Monthly Road Walk
Niger State Acting Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, led civil servants and political office holders in the first edition of the monthly road walk for public servants and political appointees in the state. The walk began at the Government House in Minna, proceeded through a major expressway to Stadium Junction, and concluded at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre after participants engaged in aerobics.
In his address, Acting Governor Garba stated that the exercise aims to keep participants fit, enhance mental alertness, and demonstrate unity. He thanked the people of Niger State for their peace and orderliness and reassured them of the government’s commitment to their welfare.
Head of Service Abubakar Salihu noted the impressive turnout and announced that the first Saturday of every month would be dedicated to the road walk to promote fitness among public servants. He emphasized that every citizen is a stakeholder in the state’s development and that the government will continue to invest resources for rapid progress.
Chief of Staff Abdullahi Gbatamangi and Commissioner of Secondary and Tertiary Health Dr. Bello Tukur highlighted the importance of exercise for improving civil servants’ productivity. Permanent Secretaries Nuhu Ngaski and Aliyu Abubakar praised the initiative for fostering interconnectivity among various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing citizens’ concerns.
Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting its benefits for their mental and physical well-being.
