Niger State Food Security Program (Food Subsidy Scheme)
Niger State has launched a Food Subsidy Scheme as part of its Food Security Program, aimed at making essential food commodities affordable for all residents. The initiative, under the leadership of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, seeks to alleviate the financial burden on the people by providing subsidized prices for key food items.
Pricing details for the subsidized food items are as follows:
– Rice (10kg bag) = ₦8,000
– Maize (10kg bag) = ₦5,500
– Beans (10kg bag) = ₦9,000
– Guinea Corn (10kg bag) = ₦5,500
– Millet (10kg bag) = ₦5,500
These prices are significantly lower than market rates, ensuring that every resident can access essential commodities without undue financial stress. The State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Hon. Binta Mamman, emphasized the importance of public cooperation in supporting the initiative as a fair and transparent exercise.
The government has urged residents to locate their Local Government Ward selling points to purchase their food commodities. Fairness and integrity will be maintained at these points to ensure equitable distribution.
Residents are advised to:
1. Stay Informed: Keep updated with the latest information regarding distribution points and schedules.
2. Be Patient: Understand that the distribution process may take time; patience and cooperation will help ensure a smooth process.
3. Report Issues: Report any irregularities or unfair practices to the appropriate authorities immediately.
4. Support the Initiative: Show understanding and cooperation to ensure the effective and efficient execution of the food subsidy exercise.
The government appeals for the full cooperation of all residents to make this program a success and ensure that its benefits reach every member of Niger State.
