Niger Trains 2,000 Traders on Digital Literacy

The Niger State Government has launched a digital literacy training program aimed at empowering 2,000 market traders, including men, women, and youths, with essential digital skills. The initiative, spearheaded by the state’s Ministry of Communication Technology and Digital Economy, is designed to modernize the way traders conduct business, reducing the need for long-distance travel and enhancing safety by adopting technology.
Commissioner for Communication Technology and Digital Economy, Alhaji Sulaiman Isah, highlighted the importance of digitalization in expanding trade and reducing the risks associated with traditional business practices. He encouraged participants to embrace the training, which is part of the broader NG: CARES program, aimed at fostering self-reliance and economic growth in the state.
Additionally, Alhaji Ahmed Gwada from the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises announced that participants’ details would be included in the NG: CARES database, making them eligible for future government grants. The initiative follows a successful disbursement of N50,000 each to 10,000 beneficiaries in the previous phase.
The state government has committed to ongoing support and additional training sessions to further empower traders and enhance their business capabilities. The program underscores Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s commitment to leveraging technology for economic development and the betterment of Niger State’s citizens.
