Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) Chairman Inuwa Yahaya Joins Vice President Shettima to Launch Empowerment Programme in Katsina State
The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, participated in the launch of a multi-million naira empowerment programme in Kafur, Katsina state. The event, which took place on Saturday, saw the presence of Vice President Kashim Shettima, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, and other dignitaries.
The empowerment programme, spearheaded by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, aims to alleviate the hardships faced by residents of Funtua zone in Katsina state. Over ten thousand beneficiaries from the 11 local governments of the district were in attendance.
During the event, Vice President Shettima acknowledged the economic challenges facing the country and reassured citizens of the government’s commitment to implementing comprehensive measures to address these challenges and empower them for better livelihoods. He emphasized the positive results of ongoing initiatives and pledged to sustain partnerships with state governments to create additional avenues and programmes to tackle economic challenges.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, speaking on behalf of the attending governors, praised Alhaji Ibrahim Masari for the initiative, highlighting the dedication of both the President and all governors to tackling economic challenges and ensuring a better future for citizens. He urged affluent Nigerians to emulate Masari’s generosity, emphasizing that such gestures would complement government efforts in alleviating the increasing cost of living.
The event witnessed the distribution of various empowerment items to beneficiaries, including cash capital, vehicles, motorcycles, fertilizers, and machinery. A total of 10,200 beneficiaries received cash capital of N30,000 each, amounting to 306 million naira.
The event was attended by Governors of Katsina, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, National Assembly members, Ministers, among others. Governor Inuwa Yahaya was accompanied by other government officials from Gombe State, including the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, and top government functionaries.
