Ogun First Lady Eases Hardship with Food Distribution
In a heartwarming initiative to alleviate economic hardship, Bamidele Abiodun, the wife of Ogun State Governor, has begun distributing bags of rice to residents across the state. This effort aims to support nearly 50 vulnerable families and will continue over the next few weeks.
Speaking at the flag-off event in Abeokuta, Mrs. Abiodun highlighted the importance of supporting the most vulnerable and empowering women, given their crucial roles in society. “Empowering women is essential due to the critical roles they play at home and in society,” she emphasized.
This initiative aligns with a broader gesture by the First Lady of the Federation, Oluremi Tinubu, who has donated bags of rice to all 36 states in response to the economic challenges faced by many Nigerians. Mrs. Abiodun’s effort is part of a larger strategy to promote peace, stability, and economic strength within communities.
Looking ahead, the Ogun State First Lady announced plans to identify more groups in urgent need of support and provide them with relief materials. This initiative not only aims to alleviate current hardships but also to strengthen community bonds and economic stability.
In line with these efforts, the Federal Government will soon implement guidelines to suspend customs duty and taxes on imported food items, aiming to reduce food prices and further support Nigerian families.
