Ogun State Distributes 24,000 Bags of Fertilizers to Combat Food Inflation
In a significant move to address food inflation and boost agricultural productivity, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun initiated the distribution of 24,000 bags of fertilizers to farmers across the state. The event, held on Monday in Abeokuta, marked a crucial step in the state’s efforts to support local farmers and ensure food security.
Governor Abiodun emphasized that this initiative is part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to achieve food sufficiency in Nigeria. He highlighted agriculture as the cornerstone of the nation’s economy, providing sustenance and employment to millions of Nigerians.
During the ceremony, Governor Abiodun urged the State Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria, responsible for overseeing the fertilizer distribution, to conduct their duties with transparency. He noted that the program would benefit 12,000 farmers, with the first phase targeting 7,000 farmers, including members of the Cassava and Rice Farmers Associations, Agro-Services Corporation Farmers, and Agric Development Farmers from all 20 local government areas of the state.
“This initiative represents more than just the distribution of fertilizers. It symbolizes our collective commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and ensuring that our farmers have the resources they need to cultivate their lands effectively and efficiently,” Abiodun stated.
The governor’s focus on agriculture as a viable business venture underscores the importance of this initiative in combating food inflation and enhancing the state’s agricultural productivity.
