Ogun State Embarks on Sagamu-Papalanto-Ilaro Road Construction Through PPP
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced the commencement of construction work on the Sagamu-Papalanto-Ilaro Road, a significant infrastructure project undertaken through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement involving Ogun State, the Federal Government, and the Dangote Group. This initiative was revealed during the inauguration of the Abeokuta branch of Providus Bank at Oke-Ilewo.
Governor Abiodun highlighted that this dual carriageway, constructed with concrete, represents a successful case study of how PPP can be harnessed for the betterment of the people. Once completed, the road will alleviate traffic congestion on the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu route, providing a vital link from the Ota axis to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
He also stressed that the influx of industries and investments into the state serves as proof that his administration’s PPP vision is yielding positive outcomes. Governor Abiodun pointed out that the collaboration between the public and private sectors, supported by various policies and programs under the ISEYA pillars, is a testament to the potential of well-executed public-private partnerships.
The governor emphasized the state’s abundant mineral resources, significant agricultural production, and the growing presence of businesses and industries in the region. He mentioned plans to construct a Dry Port at Kajola, which will facilitate the direct import of raw materials by manufacturers, further enhancing the state’s ease of doing business.
Governor Abiodun concluded by commending Providus Bank for its achievements in its seven years of existence, especially its focus on Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises (SMEs) as an essential driver of the economy. He also urged the bank to provide loans to its customers, promoting economic development.
