Ogun State Government Alerts Public to Fraudulent Cash Palliative Scam
The Ogun State Government has issued a warning to residents regarding a fraudulent message circulating on social media platforms. The message falsely claims that Governor Dapo Abiodun is offering a cash palliative of N10,000 per person across the state. The scam message includes a link prompting individuals to apply for the supposed cash palliative and share the information for others to benefit.
In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Governor, Kayode Akinmade, the government categorically disclaimed the message, labeling it as an obvious scam. The statement urged the public not to fall for the fraudulent scheme and clarified that the government is committed to genuine alleviation of citizens’ suffering through various empowerment programs and policies rolled out since 2019.
Furthermore, the government emphasized that it is not involved in any form of cash transfer program through the link provided in the scam message, which is deemed fraudulent and unauthorized. The statement highlighted the risk posed by accessing or providing personal information through such links and advised the public to rely on authentic information from official government channels, including websites, press releases, and social media handles.
The public was cautioned to exercise caution and refrain from sharing fraudulent messages. The government reiterated its commitment to improving the well-being of the people of Ogun State while ensuring that interventions are conducted through legitimate channels to avoid endangering individuals.
