Ogun State Government Pledges Commitment to New Minimum Wage Negotiations

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to engaging with labor leaders to reach a favorable decision on the new minimum wage. Speaking during the 2024 Worker’s Day celebration and rally themed “People First,” Governor Abiodun assured workers of the government’s proactive approach to addressing their concerns.

Highlighting the government’s achievements in workers’ welfare, Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of inclusive governance and sustainability in decision-making processes. He announced plans to convene a meeting with organized labor leaders to finalize the state government’s position on the minimum wage issue, reflecting the administration’s consultative approach.

Governor Abiodun disclosed significant investments in workers’ welfare, including the payment of leave bonuses, outstanding deductions, and enhanced loan schemes. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to remitting pensions and gratuities, providing financial support, and enhancing career opportunities for civil servants.

Furthermore, Governor Abiodun announced a progressive policy to absorb deserving Ogun Teach interns into the mainstream civil service after two years of meritorious service. This initiative reflects the government’s recognition of talent and commitment among interns, contributing to the overall development of the state’s workforce.
