Ogun State Government Unveils Mini Sports Festival to Unearth Talents Ahead of 2024 National Sports Festival
The Ogun State Government is preparing to host a mini Sports Festival across its twenty local government areas, aimed at identifying and nurturing talents in readiness for the 2024 National Sports Festival. This initiative, intended to spot emerging talents, was announced by the Commissioner for Sports Development, Mr. Wasiu Isiaka, during a meeting with sports associations’ chairmen and coaches at the Alake Sports Centre in Abeokuta.
Mr. Isiaka emphasized the abundance of undiscovered talents within the state and reiterated the government’s commitment to hosting a successful event while seeking the continuous support of sports association leaders and coaches to achieve their goals.
During the meeting, Dr. Taofeek Babalola, Chairman of the Wrestling Association, praised the government’s efforts in advancing sports development in the state. He urged the government to provide improved facilities to aid the early preparation of athletes for the upcoming games and suggested the creation of programs that would offer employment opportunities to motivate athletes further.
