Ogun State Orders Relocation of Kara Market
The Ogun State Government has issued a 100-day ultimatum for traders at Kara Market in Isheri to relocate to the Ogere International Market. The decision, effective until December 31, aims to address environmental issues caused by the market’s current location, including improper waste disposal and open defecation. Dr. Sam Olugbenga Oyeleye, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, explained that the move is necessary for environmental restoration and to align with the state’s industrial growth objectives. The relocation will be phased, starting with cattle traders and the abattoir, to ensure a smooth transition and continued support for the traders.
