Ondo Government’s Unwavering Commitment to Educational Excellence
The Ondo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the development of the education sector, ensuring that every student in the state has access to quality education. Since assuming office, Governor Aiyedatiwa has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at raising the standard of education from the basic to the tertiary levels.
In a significant move to alleviate the financial burden on parents, the state government has paid approximately Five Hundred and Fifty Million Naira for the 2024 WASSCE registration fees of 26,088 students in public schools. Furthermore, the governor has approved the balance payment of One Hundred and Fifty-Eight Million, Seven Hundred and Sixteen Thousand Naira for the registration of students in public secondary schools for the same examination.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Olaolu Akindolire, emphasized that the state government is also addressing challenges related to the release of WASSCE results, working closely with WAEC officials to resolve logistical issues swiftly.
In addition to these efforts, Governor Aiyedatiwa has approved approximately Four Hundred Million Naira for scholarships and bursary awards to students of Ondo State origin in tertiary institutions across the country. Recognizing the importance of qualified educators, the governor has also greenlit the recruitment of teachers for both primary and secondary schools, with the process currently underway.
To further enhance the learning environment, Governor Aiyedatiwa has sanctioned a massive infrastructural renovation and upgrade of public secondary schools across the state, with projects set to commence shortly. The state government has also introduced an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department within the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology to foster the development of students’ talents, preparing them for self-employment after graduation.
