Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State announced that more than 500 surgeries have been performed on patients as part of the state’s Free Surgical Intervention Programme within the last week. This initiative aims to provide medical assistance to individuals who cannot afford surgery, particularly the poor and vulnerable segments of society.

Governor Abiodun made this revelation during a courtesy visit by the Committee of Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of Federal Tertiary Hospitals in Nigeria. He highlighted the importance of initiatives like the Free Surgical Intervention Programme in alleviating the healthcare burden on the less privileged.

In addition to the surgical program, Governor Abiodun highlighted other healthcare initiatives implemented by his administration, such as the Ilera Dero Health Insurance Programme and Ibidero for women, which provide free healthcare services to pregnant women and children in the state.

The governor reiterated his commitment to improving the healthcare sector in Ogun State, including upgrading medical facilities, employing more medical personnel, and investing in new equipment to enhance service delivery.
