Sallah Gift Scam: Governor Aliyu Pledges Accountability and Justice
Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and justice, vowing to recover misappropriated funds meant as Sallah gifts for local government and Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) staff.
Receiving the report from a committee led by State Auditor General Sambo Yahaya Nawawi, Governor Aliyu decried the noncompliance with his directive to distribute the N30,000 largesse and assured the public that recommendations would be thoroughly reviewed and implemented.
“I assure you that we will recover every misappropriated kobo and return it to the rightful beneficiaries,” Governor Aliyu stated, reiterating his administration’s “Ko Kudi Ko Aiki” (No Funds, No Work) ethos. He emphasized that no one would mismanage public funds and escape accountability under his watch.
The committee, commended for its diligent work, investigated the public outcry over the mismanagement of funds and outlined steps for restitution. Governor Aliyu thanked the people of Sokoto for their support and prayers, promising continued delivery of democracy’s dividends and a governance model rooted in integrity and service.
