Sanwo-Olu Announces Upcoming Completion of Refurbished Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed his enthusiasm about the progress of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, Iganmu. The revamped centre, formerly known as the National Arts Theatre, is set to be completed and opened to the public in the coming months.
During a recent tour of the facility, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the remarkable transformation of the centre, noting its potential to rival international arts theatres as a premier tourist destination. He praised the collaborative efforts of the Bankers Committee and various stakeholders for their role in restoring and elevating the centre to meet global standards.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of this project in promoting arts, culture, and tourism, and expressed excitement about its future role in hosting world-class performances and international conferences. He acknowledged the significant improvements made over the past four years and commended the professionals and companies involved for their dedication.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, echoed these sentiments, stating that the completed centre will enhance Lagos’ reputation as a vibrant hub for entertainment and creativity. He noted that it will create job opportunities and contribute to the growth of the tourism and entertainment sectors in the city.
