Sanwo-Olu Champions 2024 Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health Plus Nutrition Initiative
In a powerful commitment to the health and well-being of mothers, newborns, and children, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, led the flag-off ceremony for the 2024 Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health Plus Nutrition (MNCAH+N) Week at City Centre, Lagos Island East.
The event, which drew a notable gathering including the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Segun Ogboye, and Hon. Muyibi Alade Folawiyo, Chairman of Lagos Island East, along with partners like UNICEF, Rotary Club, and Alive and Thrive, underscored the critical importance of proper nutrition and healthcare for infants and children.
Throughout this impactful week, children who have missed essential immunizations will receive the necessary care, and mothers will benefit from complimentary antenatal, delivery, and postnatal services. Moreover, the initiative offers vital support for survivors of mistreatment at state health facilities and ensures prompt referral services for women in labor and those experiencing complications.
This initiative is a testament to Governor Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to improving the health outcomes of Lagosians, particularly mothers and children. The governor’s administration continues to prioritize the health and well-being of the state’s most vulnerable populations, setting a new standard for maternal and child healthcare in Nigeria.
