Senator Bassey Otu Appointed as Chairman of Fresh Edo Primary Election Committee

In a move to ensure the integrity of the electoral process, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Senator Bassey Otu as the new chairman of the Edo State Primary Election Committee, replacing Governor Hope Uzodimma. The decision was conveyed via a circular issued by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu. The party aims to uphold transparency and fairness in the upcoming primary elections following the declaration of the previous election as inconclusive.

The party had earlier declared the primary election inconclusive after a member of the House of Representatives, Dennis Idahosa, emerged as the governorship candidate. However, discrepancies in the process led to the need for a fresh committee to oversee the completion of the primary election. Senator Otu’s appointment signifies the party’s commitment to ensuring a credible and conclusive primary election in Edo State.
