Sokoto Government Champions Judicial Autonomy
Barrister Nasiru Binji, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice for Sokoto State, reaffirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to upholding the independence of the judiciary. Speaking at the commencement of the 2024 Sokoto Law Week, Barrister Binji underscored the administration’s commitment to respecting the judiciary’s autonomy and ensuring non-interference in its administrative and judicial functions.
He emphasized Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s steadfast support for the judiciary, highlighting the administration’s consistent efforts to guarantee the timely flow of finances to support judicial operations. Barrister Binji called upon legal practitioners to rally behind Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s agenda of promoting the rule of law and facilitating the administration of justice in Sokoto State.
Furthermore, Barrister Binji acknowledged the importance of fostering a harmonious relationship between the executive and judicial branches, recognizing it as essential for achieving the government’s objectives. He also outlined the government’s initiatives to enhance the welfare of legal officers and provide them with the necessary resources to fulfill their duties effectively.
