Sokoto State Pledges Digital Advancement Support to Empower Hikima NGO
The Sokoto State Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering digital growth and innovation by visiting the Hikima Community and Development Initiative (COMDI), a leading non-governmental organization dedicated to uplifting the community. The visit, led by the Honourable Commissioner Bashar Umar Kwabo and accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Daniya, PhD, FNCS, highlights the Ministry’s dedication to collaborating with key stakeholders in driving digital literacy and skills development across Sokoto State.
Upon arrival, the MIDE delegation was warmly received by Mrs. Hajia Ubaida Muhammad Bello (Sarauniyar Shariffan Sokoto), the CEO and founder of COMDI. Mrs. Bello underscored COMDI’s efforts in enhancing the lives of over 400 individuals in the state through skill acquisition programs and emphasized the critical role that collaboration with the Ministry could play in equipping the community with innovative skills for sustainability and self-reliance. She also highlighted COMDI’s broader mission of partnering with other organizations to support various initiatives, including assistance for individuals living with HIV, demonstrating their deep commitment to community welfare.
Honourable Commissioner Kwabo praised COMDI’s impactful work, expressing the Ministry’s eagerness to provide digital support to further empower the community. He emphasized that the Ministry is committed to enhancing digital literacy and skills across government, public, and private sectors, and expressed optimism about future collaborations with COMDI.
In response, Mrs. Bello expressed deep appreciation for the visit, describing the Honourable Commissioner as the “best visitor of the year,” a testament to the importance of this partnership. The delegation also included key figures from both MIDE and the ICT Directorate, underscoring the significance of the Ministry’s commitment to driving digital innovation in the state.
