Termination of GeeMony Kleaners’ Contract, A Testament to Gov Ododo’s Commitment to Workers’ Welfare – Toyin Kamal
In a decisive move reflecting his commitment to workers’ welfare, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has terminated the contract of GeeMony Kleaners, a cleaning service provider, for failing to pay its staff despite receiving payments from the state government. The decision was applauded by Mr. Toyin Kamal, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) member from Ijumu local government area, who described the Governor’s action as a clear message to other service providers.
During a chat with journalists in Lokoja, Mr. Kamal highlighted that Governor Ododo’s swift action demonstrates his no-nonsense approach to governance, especially concerning the welfare of workers. “The Governor believes that the sweat of laborers must be rewarded, and this termination is a strong signal that he will not tolerate any attempts to deprive workers of their rightful wages,” Kamal stated.
He further praised the Governor for his courage and decisiveness, noting that good governance is achieved when leaders refuse to succumb to sentimental pressures and prioritize the well-being of citizens.
A staff member of GeeMony Kleaners, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, expressed relief and support for the Governor’s decision. The employee revealed that despite the state government’s consistent payments, the company had refused to disburse salaries, even audaciously informing workers that they would not be paid. “It is a sin to make us clean the State capital without paying us,” the worker lamented, endorsing the Governor’s action as being in the best interest of the state.
This termination underscores Governor Ododo’s commitment to ensuring fair treatment of workers and maintaining high standards of service delivery in Kogi State.
