Yobe ACReSAL Advances Sustainable Agriculture Through Community Empowerment
In a bid to enhance agricultural resilience and sustainability, the Yobe State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project has empowered 19 communities with the knowledge and tools to manage the Community Revolving Fund (CRF) scheme effectively.
The sensitization workshop, held at the Federal University Gashua, provided participants from Bade, Jakusko, Yusufari, and Yunusari local governments with insights into sustainable practices and community-led development. The CRF, representing 10% of the project’s total funding, is a critical tool for promoting climate-smart agriculture and ensuring community ownership.
Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration has demonstrated a commitment to inclusive development by ensuring women constitute 40% of the CRF Management Committees. This aligns with the state’s broader vision of empowering communities through participatory governance and innovative agricultural practices.
Through this initiative, the ACReSAL project reinforces Yobe’s position as a leader in sustainable land management and climate adaptation, contributing to the state’s long-term development and food security goals.
