Yobe Governor’s Cup to Be Played On Synthetic Grass
The Yobe State Ministry of Youth, Sports, Social, and Community Development, in collaboration with the Yobe State Sports Council, is set to organize the Football Governor’s Cup in the state. The primary objectives of this tournament are to discover youth talents and promote peace, unity, social cohesion, and economic growth through sports. According to Hon. Barma Shettima, the Commissioner of the Ministry, participants from 17 Local Government Areas have already been selected to compete in the tournament. The games will be hosted at five stadiums across the state, including the newly constructed Synthetic Stadium in Damaturu. The final rounds of the competition will take place in Damaturu, with cash prizes awarded to the top three teams. Dr. Abdulrahman Ago, the Executive Director of the Yobe State Sports Council, disclosed that the final stage of the Governor’s Cup will be played on the synthetic grass of the newly constructed stadium, which offers consistency and durability for players. The Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, is expected to grace the kick-off ceremony of the competition.
