Yobe State Government Provides Swift Support to Flood Victims in Damaturu
The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has swiftly responded to the recent flood devastation in Damaturu by distributing first-line support to affected households. This joint effort underscores the state government’s commitment to providing immediate relief and ensuring the welfare of its citizens.
In partnership with NEMA’s Maiduguri Zonal Office, SEMA delivered essential supplies to 169 households in the Sumsuma and Pompomari communities of Damaturu. The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Mohammed Goje, highlighted that the support was based on a thorough stock review and vulnerability assessment, aiming to provide families with the resources they need to recover and resume their daily activities.
The distributed items included essential food supplies, clothing, and household items, ensuring that the victims have the necessary provisions to stabilize their lives. Goje emphasized the ongoing nature of the relief efforts, as directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni, assuring that every registered household will receive the assistance they need.
Goje also expressed gratitude to NEMA for its collaborative efforts with the state government, ensuring a coordinated response to the disaster. The initiative reflects Governor Buni’s dedication to supporting affected communities and ensuring that they receive the aid required to rebuild their lives.
In addition to the state and national efforts, Senator Ahmad Lawan, President of the 9th Senate, has donated N25 million to support flood victims in his Yobe North Senatorial District. His visit to the affected areas underscored the importance of continued relief efforts and the need for both immediate and long-term solutions to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
