Yobe State Governor Urges Intensified Research on Kidney Disease in Gashua
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has called on visiting international scientists to deepen their research into the causes of kidney disease in Gashua, a town heavily affected by the condition. The governor made this appeal while hosting the scientists, who are in the state for a Summer School training session at Yobe State University, Damaturu.
Governor Buni highlighted his previous visits to renowned research institutions in the United Kingdom to foster partnerships aimed at addressing the kidney disease issue. He assured the visiting scientists of his continuous support for the Biomedical Training and Research Center at Yobe State University, which he hopes will become a center of excellence in research and training.
The visiting scientists, who hail from various countries including the USA, UK, Germany, and several African nations, praised Yobe State’s growing reputation as a hub for science and research in Nigeria. They commended Governor Buni’s commitment to promoting scientific research, noting that Yobe State is on the path to becoming a significant destination for scientific and research tourism. The ongoing Summer School training, which includes workshops on Artificial Intelligence, Malaria research, and Brain disease research, has drawn the participation of 450 medical professionals and academics from across Africa.
