Yobe State Prioritizes Infrastructure and Livelihood Improvement in Post-Insurgency Recovery Efforts

In the wake of insurgency, the Yobe State Government is steadfastly focused on post-insurgency recovery, with a keen emphasis on infrastructural development aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), host communities, and affected areas across the state.

According to a statement from the Press Secretary to the Secretary to the State Government, Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni underscored the importance of prioritizing infrastructural development during a meeting with Mr. Harvey Duncan, the Country Director of Save the Children International in Damaturu.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, Governor Buni highlighted the significant progress achieved in reconstruction, rehabilitation, and the establishment of new structures over the past five years. These efforts are geared towards revitalizing education, improving healthcare delivery, and providing essential infrastructure such as roads, water, and electricity to enhance the quality of life for returnees and host communities.

Expressing gratitude for the support received from various donor agencies, development partners, and federal government agencies, Governor Buni affirmed the commitment of his administration to further strengthen collaborations for continued progress. Notably, contributions from entities like the World Bank, UN agencies, and other humanitarian partners have been instrumental in addressing developmental challenges and supplementing the state government’s efforts in meeting the needs of affected communities.

Governor Buni reiterated the government’s dedication to implementing policies and programs aimed at achieving short, medium, and long-term stabilization, ensuring the sustainable recovery and prosperity of Yobe State in the aftermath of insurgency.
