Zulum Scolds Borno Health Agencies Over Mismanagement of Funds
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State issued a stern warning to health agencies in the state over their mismanagement of funds. During a stakeholders’ meeting in Maiduguri on the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF), Zulum criticized the Borno State Health Contributory Management Agency (BOCHMA) and the Borno State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (SPHCDA) for their lack of transparency and accountability. He emphasized that impunity in the health sector will no longer be tolerated and directed the agencies to work with Local Government Area Chairmen to ensure better fund management. To reinforce this, Zulum announced plans to establish a committee to inspect healthcare facilities across the state and warned that non-compliance would result in severe consequences. The Governor also reaffirmed his commitment to increasing funding for the health sector, enhancing infrastructure, and supporting healthcare workers through training programs.
