Zulum’s Administration Delivers Swift Relief to Miringa Flood Victims
In a compassionate response to the recent flood disaster in Miringa town, Biu Local Government Area, the Borno State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, has swiftly provided relief materials to 208 affected households. The relief effort was led by Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, who had earlier visited the community to assess the damage and offer sympathy on behalf of the state government.
Kadafur, while delivering the relief items on Tuesday, reassured the Biu Emirate and the victims of the administration’s commitment to supporting those affected by the disaster. He revealed that Governor Zulum, upon receiving the report of the flood, immediately directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to conduct a thorough assessment and provide the necessary assistance.
The relief package included essential supplies such as food items, blankets, and building materials, along with a financial grant of N14,350,000. The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Mohammed Lawan Sheriff, emphasized that the distribution was carried out based on the severity of the damage sustained by each household, ensuring that the most affected received the highest level of support.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the victims, the Emir of Biu, HRH Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha, lauded the state government and SEMA for their prompt and generous intervention.
