100 Days In Office: Governor Okpebholo Showcases Landmark Achievements

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has marked his first 100 days in office with significant achievements across security, infrastructure, economic development, and social welfare, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to progress.

Speaking at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo outlined key milestones, including:

• Security and Law Enforcement: His administration procured 75 Toyota Hilux vehicles and 350 motorcycles to enhance security operations. The government also amended anti-cultism and kidnapping laws, leading to a reduction in criminal activities and the recovery of over 3,500 illegal firearms.

• Economic Development: The state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has increased by ₦10 billion, following reforms in tax collection and public sector efficiency. The SME empowerment initiative has provided interest-free loans to over 5,000 market women, farmers, and artisans in partnership with the World Bank. Additionally, grants were disbursed to 400 small business owners to strengthen resilience against economic challenges.

• Agriculture and Food Security: The administration banned exploitative market unions responsible for price inflation, ensuring food affordability for residents.

• Healthcare: Edo State has established the first VVF (Vesicovaginal Fistula) treatment center in the South-South region, launched free malaria testing and treatment across government hospitals for the next two years, and upgraded numerous health facilities.

• Infrastructure and Road Development: Major road construction projects are underway, including the landmark Ramat Park Flyover, designed to ease traffic congestion in Benin City.

Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s SHINE agenda (Security, Infrastructure, Natural Resources & Agriculture, and Education), outlining a roadmap for sustained economic growth and development over the next four years.

Dignitaries at the event, including APC National Chairman Dr. Umar Ganduje, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and former Minister of Budget and National Planning Clem Agba, praised the Governor’s leadership, describing his achievements as practical and impactful.

Senator Oshiomhole emphasized that Governor Okpebholo’s results-driven approach marks a new chapter for Edo State, stating: “In just 100 days, he has achieved what some could not in years. Edo is truly rising under his leadership.”

As Governor Okpebholo charts the course for the future, Edo residents can expect further transformation in economic development, infrastructure expansion, and enhanced public service delivery.
